Plum Sage is committed to being a responsible consumer and finding humane floral sources. By humane I mean we prefer to support small farms, local growers and greenhouses that have earth friendly business practices and treat their employees well.
You can imagine our delight a few months back when two gentlemen, Juan and Pedro, knocked on our studio door proclaiming they were rose growers from Fiorentina Flowers and Andean Fresh Farms who live in Cayambe, Ecuador and were visiting Denver for a friend’s wedding. We invited them in, they watched us design for a bit and we had a lengthy conversation about rose quality. They invited us to try their product and told us a bit about their sustainability efforts and civilized working conditions.
Upon returning home, we received a sampler box of gorgeous, long-stemmed roses from AndeanFreshFarms. These roses felt different from any rose we have touched from our wholesaler in years. The stems were buttery soft and hydrated and the blooms were enormous. We cut and placed them in water and arrangements and some stems lasted well into the second week of shelf life.
We look forward to a long and happy relationship sourcing high quality roses from this responsible source. We feel good knowing we are supporting a healthy, happy farming community and our clients are thrilled with these gorgeous buds in their event arrangements!
Here are a few visuals of their beautiful product alone and in our recent designs…
